For a sheet specified as 1,220 × 2,440 mm, the nominal area is 1.22 × 2.44 = 2.9768 m². An $11.00 UV marble sheet price per sheet therefore equals approximately $3.70 per nominal m². That calculation says nothing about freight, cutting loss, installation, or the number of complete sheets the design actually requires.

Use the dimensions in the approved specification rather than silently substituting an approximate “4 × 8 ft” description. Then record whether dimensions are nominal or guaranteed finished dimensions. The 400-sheet purchase represents 1,190.72 m² of nominal material, not 1,190.72 m² of finished wall. At the assumed loss and yield, it provides approximately 1,023.42 m² of potential installed coverage after retaining ten sound spares. That is a planning result, not a delivery guarantee. Damage can be concentrated in a particular pattern or shipment rather than evenly distributed.

For high-contrast or paired designs, calculate quantities by pattern and panel sequence before aggregating the order. An offcut has value only when the approved layout can use it. Review UV marble sheet colors and pattern planning before assuming that all sheets and offcuts are interchangeable.

Supplier A starts $480 lower on the material invoice. Its $960 of additional packing and origin services reverses that advantage, leaving Supplier B $480 lower on the defined delivered scope. These figures include the purchased reserve sheets in the project's funding requirement. Measure labor and adhesive at a representative mock-up

A two-person crew working eight hours consumes sixteen worker-hours. Record worker-hours rather than using an ambiguous “crew day,” and avoid mixing hours already included in preparation or cleanup allowances. Adhesive budgeting should identify the approved product, substrate, application method, documented consumption, and purchased pack quantity. This is why an area-based contingency can miss a purchasing threshold. A small design change may require a whole additional pack, a new pattern minimum, or another shipment. Recalculate the quantity before applying a new unit rate.

Labor variation can exceed the supplier-price difference

An extra forty worker-hours at the assumed $35 rate adds $1,400, or $1.40/m². That is larger than the $480 delivered-cost difference. However, do not assign those hours to the cheaper supplier without evidence. Separate routine losses from contingent failures

A risk-adjusted scenario can multiply an evidence-supported event probability by its incremental impact.
